It's network is so vast; it provides internet and data services across the country using different technologies. In my position as IP Core Network Administrator, my duties and responsibilities range from making connections for new clients to ensuring that they have 99% service availability and bring these services to the client regardless of their geographical location. A brief description of your computing and networking environment (operating systems, networking software, modems, etc.), including the connectivity of your organization to the Internet and your country's connectivity to the international Internet* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Uganda Telecom Limited being one of the largest ISPs in Uganda, has clients with different needs and therefore the range of software and hardware used is vast. Some included are Solaris, Unix, Linux and Windows. There are different vendors that supply that hardware especially modems, routes, switches, Servers which include Dell, Cisco, huawei etc. Uganda Telecom has a countrywide network which is attracted by various different businesses like banks and national revenue collections, such businesses require connectivity in locations that are very remote. These businesses are very sensitive and require 99% service availability, therefore Uganda Telecom has to ensure a stable network ensuring that the primary and secondary or redundant internet links available from its international suppliers at all times.
